Recent Press Reports

In recent weeks there has been a lot of attention on Care Homes during the Covid-19 outbreak, and many of the headlines have focused on the difficulties Care Home are facing. Whilst our hearts go out to any of our social care colleagues who are suffering outbreaks within their homes, it is also important for us to make you aware of our committed and dedicated staff and how good infection control practices help to keep the virus under control. Every single day, our staff go to work to make a difference to people’s lives, and they continue to do this even more so than ever during these harder times.

Our policies regarding Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) that were implemented when the homes were closed to non essential visitors remain in place, and we have sufficient supplies. We felt it was important that you were aware that we have no concerns about maintaining this supply, in contrary to reports from the news. We continue to source PPE on a daily basis and we are linked into all the local and national supply chains including those whom we can contact in an emergency situation should we ever be in a situation where our PPE is low.

It was announced by the Health Secretary that testing for Covid-19 had now been made available to any residents who were showing symptoms. The Government also announced that all social care staff would have access to local testing facilities and we are very pleased to learn that a testing centre has opened in Peterborough.

I want to thank our relatives for the support you have shown during this period, as I know it can’t be easy for any of you.

Current Position

All visits to see residents are suspended

• We have taken the decision to ‘cocoon’ our residents from all non-essential contact to protect their safety and welfare.
• We recognise that this measure may need to be in place for months, maybe longer.

Video Calling

• We have Skype video calling in all homes for relatives and friends to speak with residents.
• Please contact the home for information on the service.

End-of-life Care

• For visits to residents under end-of-life care plans please contact the home manager to discuss possible arrangements.

Medical visits

• Visits from medical professionals continue.
• Where practical, medical professionals are using Skype for video consultations.
• Hospital visits by residents continue.

Other services

• All external entertainers have been cancelled.
• All trips out have been cancelled.
• Hairdressing is suspended until further notice.
• Chiropody is suspended until further notice.

Deliveries

• All deliveries continue to be accepted.
• All professional services continue to be accepted.

New Care Enquiries

• For ALL new care enquiries please contact our Care Enquiries Team.
• We are no longer accepting ‘walk-in’ enquiries at the homes or at Head Office.
